Sundance-winning transdoc “Desire Lines” (The Dazey Phase): “We Have Always Been Here, and We Always Will Be”

Variety has learned exclusively that “Desire Lines,” the winner of Sundance and Thessaloniki, has been bought up by The Dazey Phase, a production, sales, and distribution company based in New York. The business will be shopping it at the Marché du Film in Cannes.

Jules Rosskam’s hybrid documentary explores the taboos associated with trans masculine sexuality. In collaboration with 521 Films, Full Spectrum Features and MamSir Productions produced it.

Rosskam declared, “I’m always interested in experimenting with form.”

“As a director, I approach every project with a fresh perspective because I firmly think that form and content are mutually reinforcing forces. I don’t think a film would be as successful if I tried to make it with content that asked viewers to let go of binary thinking but the form was stuck in a binary.
