The distribution rights to Sylvain Chomet’s The Magnificent Life of Marcel Pagnol in the UK and Ireland have been acquired by Picturehouse Entertainment, marking its first animation pickup.
The Magnificent Life Of Marcel Pagnol chronicles the life of the playwright, novelist, and filmmaker who rose to prominence in the mid-20th century as one of the most creative and prolific artists in the world.
The movie is currently being produced with a 2025 completion date. Ashargin Poire and Valerie Puech for What the Prod., in association with Nicolas Pagnol from Pagnol’s Estate, are the producers. Co-producers include Lilian Eche’s Bidibul Productions, Adrian Politowski’s Align, and Aton Soumache for ON Classics (Mediawan Kids & Family).
Elle Driver, a French sales representative, sold the movie to the distributor.
Since we began our distribution company, we have wanted to distribute an animated feature film, and what a fantastic one to begin with! Managing director of Picturehouse Entertainment Clare Binns declared, “Sylvain Chomet is a true master of animated cinema.”
The films in Picturehouse Entertainment’s current schedule are Andreas Dresen’s From Hilde, With Love, Matthias Glasner’s Dying, and Alonso Ruizpalacios’ La Cocina.
The Illusionist and The Triplets of Belleville, both nominated for Oscars, are among Chomet’s earlier motion pictures.
