Following its Cannes Competition premiere, Agathe Riedinger’s debut feature Wild Diamond has wowed audiences. The picture is being distributed to important markets by Pyramide International, a French company.

Wild Bunch Germany, Caramel in Spain, Filmcoopi in Switzerland, September Film in Benelux, Academy Two in Italy, Beta Film in Bulgaria, and Mars Production in Turkey have all picked up the film for their German-speaking regions. Negotiations are also underway with Latin America, Portugal, Sweden, the CIS, and the former Yugoslavia.

The movie centres on a 19-year-old southern French girl (played by debutante Malou Khebizi), who is infatuated with fame and beauty. She sets out to get a spot on a reality TV show that will allow her to escape her current situation and gain access to a life of acclaim.

Priscilla Bertin of Silex Films is the producer of Wild Diamond.

Notably, Riedinger is one of only four women in the area and the only debutante filmmaker in the Cannes competition.
