Back when Chris Pratt was one of the most beloved leading men in Hollywood, he resided in an apartment behind the TLC Chinese Theatre. He would walk the Walk of Fame well into the early hours of the morning, gazing up at the stars and wondering when he would get his chance to shine.
On Sunday, Pratt made a return visit to the famous Hollywood location—but not to mope about dashed hopes; instead, he was there to assist in introducing Garfield creator Jim Davis as he signed his name outside the TLC Chinese Theatre for the premiere of “The Garfield Movie.”
Regarding Pratt’s portrayal of the lasagna-loving cat, Davis remarked, “[He] absolutely rocked the part.” “Just hearing [his] timing makes you giggle. Additionally, he has the capacity to seem more sensitive and even angry at times. Therefore, it’s more than just the humor—it’s his ability to highlight every aspect of the character.”
“The Garfield Movie,” starring Pratt, Hannah Waddingham, Ving Rhames, Cecily Strong, and Samuel L. Jackson, follows the well-known indoor cat as he is uprooted from his cosy life and compelled to embark on a risky robbery with his estranged father Vic (Jackson). The celebrities were excited to talk about how they brought their feline counterparts to life as they strolled the orange carpet on Sunday.
Pratt claims that director Mark Dindal initially wanted him to play the lead. Dindal claimed he had spent years “imagining [Pratt’s] voice coming out of Garfield” when first talking about the part.
“I thought, ‘Really?'””But then I realised there was a part of me that felt like Garfield, like around the Andy Dwyer stage of my life,” Pratt remarked. “So I decided, ‘Well, I can handle that.'”
Waddingham reprises her role as the antagonist in “The Garfield Movie,” having played Gail Meyer in “The Fall Guy.” Jinx, her character, is “completely unapologetic,” and Waddingham says it will be “so boring playing someone nice again.”
Waddingham stated, “[Jinx] doesn’t care at all.” “You know what, just [go] with it and we can always pull you back,” Mark Dindal said, and they never did. It was a lot of fun.”
On May 24, “The Garfield Movie” opens in theatres.
