A well-known singer and performer from Chile, Karla Melo, will play the lead role in “Relatos de una Mujer Borracha,” or “Stories of a Drunk Woman” in English. This year’s Marché du Film will feature a new comedy movie from producer Storyboard Media. It is based on a series of well-known Chilean comic novels written by author Martina Cañas.

Variety has been granted exclusive access to the movie poster by Storyboard, which can be found at the end of this article.

Melo is a well-known actor who starred in the popular Chilean drama “El Reemplazante” and the Prime Video series “S.O.S Mamis 2: Mosquita Muerta.” She is also a popular pop singer who has amassed more than 806,000 Instagram followers.

“Relatos de una Mujer Borracha” is a semi-autobiographical story about a young woman named Martina who likes to go out with friends, go to parties, and occasionally open a bottle of wine on special occasions. On the other hand, some contend that Martina’s really favourite pastime is repeatedly intoxicating herself.

The director of “Relatos de una Mujer Borracha” is Gabriel “J.G.” Biggs (“Pleure en silence”), a Chilean filmmaker who has been working in France for the past few years on commercial projects involving well-known international celebrities and brands such as Christian Lacroix, Coca-Cola, Alicia Keys, and Katy Perry. Biggs claims that the movie will have a narrative framework akin to Tarantino’s, with elements of “Trainspotting,” “Bridget Jones,” “Project X,” and franticness.

“Relatos de una Mujer Borracha,” which is being marketed as an international calibre comedy production, was produced by Carlos Nuñez and Gabriela Sandoval at Storyboard Media, one of Chile’s top independent production houses. Nuñez declared, “We are working hard to create something excellent,” expressing his enthusiasm for the project. After the film’s completion, we’re sure that viewers will be waiting in line to see it because it has a hilarious storyline that was adapted from Martina Cañas’ first two novels.

The documentary “El Cielo está rojo,” which won the Mar del Plata, and “Adriana’s Pact,” which won the Berlin Peace Film Award, are among Storyboard’s recent credits. The company has upcoming projects that include Benjamín Avila’s “El Cardenal,” Cristián Leighton’s “El Porvenir de la Mirada,” and Camilo Becerra and Sofía Gómez’s “Quizás es cierto le que dicen de nosotras.”
